The next superstar season is already taking shape

The 2026/27 season is still young, but the opening matches have already produced some fascinating signals. Barcelona have started with four wins and 17 goals, Raphinha has scored six times, Lamine Yamal and Fermín López have four each, Kylian Mbappé has four for Real Madrid, and Erling Haaland has already found the net three times in the Premier League. 2. Raphinha — Barcelona

Nobody on this list has started the league campaign with better raw scoring numbers than Raphinha. He has six La Liga goals in four matches and has scored in every game. He produced braces against both Elche and Rayo Vallecano before scoring again against Athletic Club and Valencia.

Raphinha is particularly interesting from a data perspective because his production is not concentrated in one type of match. He has scored in different game states, including dominant victories and matches where Barcelona had to respond to pressure. The question is whether his extraordinary early conversion rate can remain at this level.

3. Kylian Mbappé — Real Madrid

Mbappé remains the safest long-term candidate when the objective is pure goal production. He scored a hat-trick against Real Sociedad and added another goal against Málaga, giving him four league goals after four matches. His role is clear: he is the primary finishing reference in a Real Madrid attack packed with creators.

The biggest argument for Mbappé is sustainability. Raphinha currently has the better start, but Mbappé has repeatedly demonstrated that he can maintain elite scoring numbers over an entire campaign. His ceiling is therefore easier to project than almost anyone else's.

4. Erling Haaland — Manchester City

5. Jude Bellingham — Real Madrid

Bellingham is the player who reminds us why goals alone are not enough to measure dominance. He has two La Liga goals and two assists after four matches, while continuing to influence matches from midfield. His late runs into the box, ball progression and ability to create chances give him multiple routes to high-end production.

6. Bruno Fernandes — Manchester United

Fernandes produced one of the most complete individual performances of the opening Premier League weeks with a hat-trick and an assist in Manchester United's 5-2 victory over Ipswich Town. The performance illustrated why his ceiling is so high: he can score from open play, take penalties, create chances and influence the game from deep.

7. Rayan Cherki — Manchester City

Cherki is the breakout pick. He began the Premier League season with two assists against Bournemouth and then scored twice against Crystal Palace. That gives him four goal involvements in his first two league appearances. His ability to operate between midfield and attack makes him particularly difficult to defend because he can create or finish from several positions.

8. Cole Palmer — Chelsea

Palmer remains one of Chelsea's most important attacking players and his role under Xabi Alonso gives him plenty of freedom.
